Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the three-day Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 on December 9 at JECC, Jaipur. The event, running until December 11, aims to position Rajasthan as a premier destination for investment and innovation, attracting global investors, NRIs, industry leaders, and policymakers.
The summit will highlight Rajasthan’s growth potential through strategic thematic sessions, country-specific discussions, and personalized business meetings, showcasing the state as a dynamic hub for opportunities.
Speaking about the summit, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said, “Our vision of Viksit Bharat – Viksit Rajasthan is rooted in the ambition of achieving a $350 billion economy within the next five years. This transformative journey will benefit our youth, women, farmers, and underprivileged communities. Recognizing the pivotal role of the private sector, we are revamping policies to enhance ease of doing business and facilitate sustainable growth.”
Rajasthan, renowned for its rich heritage of forts and palaces, has emerged as a thriving entrepreneurial destination in recent years. The state hosts over 3,700 DPIIT-registered startups across various sectors, including enterprise tech, e-commerce, and edtech. Jaipur, the state capital, accounts for more than 53% of these startups, driven by a skilled workforce and supportive government initiatives.
The iStart program, launched in 2017, has been instrumental in fostering the startup ecosystem. Offering funding, mentorship, and infrastructure, it has become one of India’s largest startup support platforms, with over 5,100 registered startups, including 1,700 led by women. The initiative has sanctioned investments exceeding INR 35 crore and has extended support to school-level startups, conducting over 100 events to empower young entrepreneurs.
Highlights of the Summit
On December 10, the second day of the summit, 75 startup founders will join a breakfast roundtable discussion with industry leaders Vijay Shekhar Sharma (founder of Paytm) and Ritesh Agarwal (founder of OYO Rooms) on building a robust startup ecosystem in Rajasthan.
Throughout the event, the iStart pavilion will feature innovative startups showcasing their products and services. Twenty selected startups will have the exclusive opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Modi. Additionally, the Rajasthan Global Business Expo will host exhibitions from leading companies and government departments nationwide.
The summit will also include a Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave to engage with the diaspora and an MSME Conclave focusing on the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises, which are crucial to Rajasthan’s economic development.
Driving Innovation and Investment
While Rajasthan has already established itself as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, the summit seeks to accelerate this momentum and attract investments across emerging sectors, solidifying its role as a leader in economic transformation.
